Be Informed, be Aware Breast Cancer Awareness

January 23rd, 2010

Breast cancer is one of the common causes of death, talking about cancer in women. It is highly recommended that every woman should regularly check their breasts for some changes.

When checking out your breasts (only in the way that is comfortable to you, here’s what you should keep an eye for:

• A new lump or hard knot found in your breast or armpit

• Dimpling, puckering or indention in your breast or nipple

• Change in the size, shape or symmetry of your breast

• Swelling or thickening of the breast

• Redness or scaliness of the nipple or breast skin

• Nipple discharge, especially any that is bloody, clear and sticky, dark or occurs without squeezing your nipple

• Changes in your nipple such as tenderness, pain, turning or drawing inward, or pointing in a new direction

• Any suspicious changes in your breasts

Breast examination – this is essential for early breast cancer detection. Here is the proper way of checking your breasts:

• First, look closely at your breasts. Stand in front of a mirror with your hands on the side.

• Facing forward, look for dimpling, puckering and any changes in size or shape.

• See if your nipples are inverted.

• Check your breasts with your arms in two other positions – hands raised overhead and hand on hips.

There are 3 types of breast-exam patterns – the clock pattern, sweeping pattern and the wedge pattern.

It is recommended to start breast examinations when women reach the age 20. It is also advisable to have their breast exam by a health professional every 3 years. Always remember that the best time to perform you breast exam is 1 week after the start of your monthly period.

But even if you regularly check your breasts doesn’t mean you are safe from breast cancer. In fact it doesn’t reduce the number of deaths caused by breast cancer. However, this can help every woman to detect the early stages of breast cancer and help them avoid it as soon as possible before it is too late. Self and clinical breast exams as well as mammography will help you increase your chances of detecting and finding breast cancer at an early and treatable stage.

A Cancer Survivor Story: Choose One Doctor

January 23rd, 2010

Dr. Nicholas Gonzales is an immunologist trained at Sloane Kettering; he is one is one of the few doctors having success with pancreatic cancer and other zero percent survival cases. One of the rules I got from Dr. Nicholas Gonzales was to stay with one treatment protocol and doctor for a specific amount of time and be careful of jumping from one doctor to the next.
When it comes to cancer you can get panicked if you think something isn’t working instead of drawing no conclusions. If you are going to do an alternative protocol or even a conventional one, set a certain goal as to how long you are going to give it and what you except to achieve. For instance, “I will give this herbal protocol 6 weeks and I want to see at least a fifty percent reduction of the tumor.” Then when that goal is met you set a new one and if it’s not met-then you re-evaluate and explore other options.
In my healing journey this was the exact approach I created. I decided to give the herbal program 3 months with Donnie Yance. As long as I didn’t see any dramatic change for the worse. Of course, in certain protocols this can happen-things gets worse before they get better-but they are usually short-lived. I questioned Donnie very candidly about his belief that he could cure my cancer-he felt he could.
I have seen clients with seriousness illnesses jump from one protocol to the other and this really doesn’t serve you. But when it comes to a life threatening illness you, of course, get scared-you don’t want to die, you don’t want to be in more pain so you get caught up in your fears. And sometimes those fears can be sparked or fueled by people who are close to you, who might not believe totally in what you are doing, who are naturally scared of losing you. Take this as an oprtunitity to work on your boundaries with friends and family and examine if you are really communicating your needs to them without making them wrong.
When you decide to undertake a protocol, do it 100%! Alternative protocols in general have certain diet requirements-follow them as best you can to the letter. In retrospect, despite my diligence around diet, I think I could have done better. I could have ratcheted it up another notch. Like going on all juice and raw food diet. But there are many different approaches to diet. I would strongly suggest finding an alternative doctor that has specific ideas about diet and specific written diet plans they want you to follow. If they don’t you might question their thoroughness.
And also, a note on diet, even if you buy organic food, I would go the extra step and clean it with hydrogen peroxide or Clorox. Organic food can become contamaintated on its way to market. You will find more about this cleaning protocol in the book, Living Better Longer, about the work of Dr. Hazel Parcels.
In conclusion, stay with one doctor for a set amount of time, set goals and when they are met or not met, then re-evaluate. Don’t get caught up in the conversation of how you are doing. Written goals can support this not happening. Of course, if the cancer takes a dramatic wrong turn, then that’s time to re-evaluate.
Stay objective but always in your intuition. And learn to know when it’s your intuition and not your fears. This is part of the healing. Every small or large challenge emotionally is another chance to heal. How you are going about healing is a healing in of itself.

Healthy Tips to Reduce Cancer Risk

January 23rd, 2010

Healthy cells that make up the body’s tissues grow, divide, and replace themselves on a regular basis. Sometimes old cells do not die when they should or may be damaged. Normally, the body repairs or destroys such cells. Sometimes, these cells may grow out of control. This causes growths or tumors to form. Tumors can be benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer).

Healthy Tips

Cosmetics and personal care products often contain chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects. Learn which toxins put you at risk and how you can make smarter purchases.

One glass of milk contains 100 IU of Vitamin D. Other food source includes fatty fish and egg yolks. The author of this study recommended taking 1000 IU of active form Vitamin D, i.e. D3 supplement daily. He also suggested that our skin can produce 2,000 to 5,000 IU of vitamin D when we spend 10 to 15 minutes in the sun on a sunny day without sunscreen if 40% of the body is exposed. However exposure to the sun without sunscreen is not recommended in light of skin cancer issues.

Men who eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in fat, may have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer. Studies are being done to further research this protective factor.

Screening for prostate cancer is controversial. There are two types of screening tests are available to screen for prostate cancer: digital rectal exam and prostatic specific antigen blood test. Each test can produce false results. This can lead to unnecessary treatment, which can be harmful. Research is being done to determine the best method of screening for prostate cancer. Talk with your doctor about what is best for you.

Sauté two cloves of crushed garlic in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then mix in a can of low-sodium, diced tomatoes. Stir gently until heated and serve over whole wheat pasta. We already mentioned the benefits of garlic. The lycopene in the tomatoes protects against colon, prostate, and bladder cancers; the olive oil helps your body absorb the lycopene; and the fiber-filled pasta reduces your risk of colon cancer. As for the benefits of all of these ingredients together: They taste great!

Eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day as part of a healthy diet can help to reduce your risk of some cancers. We’ve got some top tips for getting your five a day and details on what counts as a portion.

Leafy green vegetables and other green vegetables, such as asparagus, brussels sprouts, and green beans are good sources. Yellow-orange vegetables and fruits, such as carrots and sweet potatoes, and apricots and pineapples, are also good sources. If you’re not a huge vegetable eater, try fruits, such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruit, or drink juices from these fruits.

With the increasing focus on greenhouse gases, carbon emissions, and other types of pollution, we now have a much greater understanding of how our lifestyles endanger the planet. However, equally as frightening, is that many of these environmental concerns have an immediate impact on our health.

Keep to a low-fat diet of no more than 30 grams of fat a day. This helps you maintain a balanced diet that also keeps your weight in check. We store estrogen in our body fat, so the less extra fat we carry around, the better!

Symptoms and Diagnosing in Leukemia

January 23rd, 2010

No human is alike another on this planet. Because of the this the way that the disease leukemia affects people is also very different. Some patients may experience severe or acute symptoms, while in others the action of the symptoms may be so mild that a long time passes till the disease is actually found and diagnosed; this can go on for years or even decades. All of us know that leukemia is the worst cancer that exist in this days and that affects people. Properly diagnosing this disorder can prove quite tricky some times, the fact being that many of its symptoms do resemble the symptoms of other very common and not life threatening illnesses.

Some of the most usual symptoms found in leukemia patients are fever, chills or other symptoms that resemble the ones of flu; weakness or fatigue may also appear in patients. Because of the heavy tole that the disease has on the body the patient may experience loss of appetite and normally after this, the weight might severely drop. Severe sweating may also be present, especially during sleep, at night time. Swollen or bleeding gums may be some of that symptoms to show us that the disease is getting serious and taking a heavy tole on the patient. Because of the lack of oxygen and nutrients that the body is receiving, bone or joint pain may also make them selves felt. Because the fact that the brain is also affected, headache, paralysis, seizures may sometimes trouble the patient with different intensities. In men the case might also include the swelling of the testicles, witch is a very nasty thing. Skin symptoms may also appear like rashes, loss of hair.

To be sure of the diagnose he makes, the doctor will most certainly run a wide variety of tests to rule out any other disease that is suspected to cause trouble to the patient. As long with physical test the doctor will also take blood samples to be more shore of the diagnose that he makes. High white blood cell count would most certainly indicate an over production of the bone marrow, but this does not necessarily mean the person has leukemia. A further more thorough test will actually include the extraction of some bone marrow for a bone marrow biopsy. If in this case a problem is discovered than the patient is in for some bed news. Still these test are extremely painful, often making patients to think again about taking them.

The True Myths of Skin Cancer

January 23rd, 2010

Baby Boomers begin the fight against skin cancer. Until recently no real warnings had been given about the harmful effects of the sun.

Skin cancer does not choose certain people, it chooses everyone. Rich, poor, famous, old or young can become victims.

Excessive sun exposure is dangerous and everyone knows it. However, approximately 50% of people over 65 are diagnosed with melanoma or some type of skin cancer. When planning for an extended day outside make sure you put skin care products on the top of your list of right things to do.

Additional things to consider to help protect you:

1. I’ll stay under the umbrella and not get burned. If going to the beach – try to remember that the majority of the UV (ultraviolet) light bounces off the sand and water. Thinking that your beach umbrella will protect you is false security. Apply a sunscreen to any exposed skin including your face.

2. All sunscreens are the same. Not true. Make sure you read the labels. Having a high rating does not mean it will protect you better. Look for a broad spectrum lotion that will block both UV’a’ and UV’b’ rays. Also try to find one with either Parsol 1789 or Titanium dioxide as an ingredient. Did you know that suntan lotion has an expiration date? You better look because it does. Another important thing to remember is to re-apply your sunscreen every 2 hours. Waterproof sunscreen will not protect you completely although waterproof. It also needs to be reapplied.

3. My sunscreen provides protection completely. I wish this was true however, you need to limit your exposure on the beach…try moving the time so that you avoid being there during the punishing 10 – 4 time period. Wear a hat with a brim all way around to protect your neck and ears. Baseball caps miss those areas. Popular today in the sunny states is clothing with UV ratings. These fabrics are generally very tightly woven.

4. Skin cancer is always Melanoma. This is really false. Skin cancer comes in many types and degrees. If discovered early – Melanoma can be removed during an office visit. The problems begin when it or any cancerous lesion is left untreated.

5. My family all had skin cancer. Although an important fact this is not always the case. Generally speaking light skin, freckles and eyes that are light such as blue or hazel run a higher risk of skin cancer and wrinkles too. People with darker skin tones who tan easy are at a lower risk category but can still be vunerable. Completing a monthly examination of your body using a mirror is important with an annual checkup by a dermatologist.

5. I don’t go out in the sun much so I am safe. Wrong again, Melanoma can also occur on moles and freckles. It has even been found on the sole or bottom of a foot.

Warning signs are a sudden change in the size, shape or color of a spot. DON’T WAIT! Have it checked.

You mean too much to others to just let it go. It might not go away.

Cervical Cancer Signs & Symptoms

January 23rd, 2010

There are basically two types of uterine sarcoma cancer: (1) leiomyosarcoma (cancer that begins in smooth muscle cells); and (2) endometrial stromal sarcoma (it begins in connective tissue cells).

Cervical Cancer Signs & Symptoms

It seems that the greatest risk factor for developing this type of cancer is exposure to x-rays. If a woman has had radiation therapy to the pelvic area, her risk for developing uterine sarcoma cancer is increased significantly.

Women who have taken the drug tamoxifen for breast cancer are also at a much higher risk for developing the disease. Women who have taken this drug need to have regular pelvic examinations and report any abnormal bleeding to their doctors immediately.

Now, it is very important to know that every growth in the uterus after menopause is NOT cancerous. There are many, many more benign (noncancerous) growths than malignant ones diagnosed every year.

Lung Cancer Secrets Revealed Click here

There is also treatment for uterine sarcoma cancer. Like all cancer, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the chances are that the patient will make a full recovery. It is classified into four stages. The first stage is the mildest form that is confined to the uterus itself. The fourth stage means that the cancer cells have spread beyond the pelvic area.

There are four basic treatments for uterine sarcoma cancer; surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. The most frequently used beginning treatment for uterine sarcoma cancer is surgery, and even if the surgeon removes all visible cancer cells, surgery is most often followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy in an attempt to kill cancer cells that the surgeon didn’t remove.

How To Spot The Early Signs Of Testicular Cancer

January 23rd, 2010

Although rare, Testicular Cancer is deadly if left untreated. This is important as it is reported that a lot of men are unconcerned by the need to check themselves regularly for any potential warning signs.
This article aims to provide some information regarding the likely symptoms of testicular cancer. This form of cancer is curable if it is detected early. So read this article and remember it could save your life.
There are three forms of testicular cancer that can be diagnosed. The Seminoma form is the cancer of a single cell in the testicles, non-Seminomas are several cells. These forms of cancer generally affect men between the ages of 15 to 45. Lymphoma cancer usually affects older men, typically over the age of 50 and is much rarer.
The figures recorded demonstrate that the various forms of testicular cancer are still rare. Of all the cancers diagnosed each year, approximately 1% of them are related to the testicles. In the United States 8,000 new cases are recorded each year, of which around 95% make a full recovery. These figures show that early detection can significantly improve the possibility of a full recovery.
So what symptoms are common in the early forms of testicular cancer? Perhaps the most frequent symptom is the discovery of a lump on one of the testicles or perhaps abnormal swelling that may result in pain or discomfort. The pain may be sharp and occasional. In some cases the testicles may shrink.
You may experience a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum or pain in the lower back area or groin. Some men have also reported early signs of testicular cancer in the form of persistent stomach pains.
This can create a weariness or sense of fatigue in your general day to day activities. It is also possible for some men to report no symptoms or not feeling ill or tired prior to diagnosis.
Occasionally, the onset of testicular cancer can be detected through a series of unusual symptoms. Some men have reported a swelling in the breast area or the tissue in the upper torso has become sore and painful. The nipples may also become very sore.
If the initial symptoms have been ignored or they did not display themselves early, then in some worse cases after the cancer has spread it can be detected through other symptoms. Typically testicular cancer tends to spread to the immune system and rarely affects other areas of the body.
Conditions such as tightness of the chest, coughing and problems with breathing are symptomatic of the cancer spreading to the lungs and the lymph nodes.
Of course, it is important to point out that these symptoms are vague and could be something or maybe nothing more than stress-related symptoms. Nonetheless, it is better to be safe and so if you experience any of the above symptoms then you should consult your doctor as soon as possible.
Remember inertia or dismissal of the symptoms will not make it disappear. Make sure that you take a moment each time you take a shower or bath to check your testicles for any irregular lumps or swelling.
Choosing to act sooner rather than later can be the difference between survival and becoming one of the unfortunate 400 men who die of testicular cancer every year in the United States.

Tadpoles May Help With Skin Cancer Detection

January 23rd, 2010

Researchers at the University of East Anglia have completed several years work to find a compound that seems to block the movement of the pigment cells that give tadpoles their unique markings. Uncontrolled movement of pigment cells has been linked to cancer in both humans and frogs, which means skin cancer detection and prevention could be improved.

Melanoma cells in particular, are known to migrate (or move) through the body to the organs, causing secondary tumors that are one of the more high-risk forms of cancer.

Melanomas are one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer because they’re both invasive and resistant to treatment.

Malignant melanoma is responsible for 75% of all skin cancer deaths, and about 160,000 new cases (over 62,000 in the U.S.) of melanoma are diagnosed worldwide each year.

If research can learn how to block this process, perhaps cancer spread can be delayed or even halted altogether.

Despite the hopeful outlook, practical applications in terms of medications are likely still years away.

The compound used in this study was selected from 3,000, screened to see if they effected the pigment cells. The compound, known as NSC 84093, produced a visible change in the color markings on the tadpoles when used in very low concentrations. The continuous stripe along the back was replaced by a pattern of blocks of color along the back of the tadpole.

Biologist and lead researcher Grant Wheeler at the University of East Anglia said, “Forty of the compounds gave us an interesting difference which we wanted to follow up.”

Apparently its easy to look at the tadpole embryos and see the color change – so many compounds could be tested.

A chemist at the University saw that the structure of the compound they were using had properties that showed it could bind to a zinc molecule. A substance expressed by melanoma tumors, matrix metaloproteinases (MMP) thought to be involved with cell behavior such as migration, is zinc dependent.

The compound identified by the British researchers keeps the MMP from doing what comes naturally. The team saw changes to patterning on the tadpoles depending on the strength of the dose given.

And if you’re wondering what tadpoles can tell us about cancer, it helps to understand how much we have in common with the little critters. These simple creatures diverged from man a mere 360 million years ago, though they still have the same organs, molecules and physiology as we do.

This tells us that cancers in the frogs will develop and act just as they do in people.

What’s more, the tadpole that becomes the South African Clawed Frog, produces eggs all year round so supplies of subjects are plentiful.

The intriguing study appears in the January 2009 journal Chemistry & Biology and though there is still a lot of work to be done, if these preliminary results hold, we may be one step close to finding an effective skin cancer detection process and treatment for one of many invasive forms of cancer. The next step is to test the compound in other animals.

Get Tested and Avoid Lung Cancer

January 23rd, 2010

Smoking is BAD! Is there still a living soul that doesn’t know and understand this? There can’t be. The media won’t let such a thing happen. Just take a gander at all the anti-smoking commercials aired daily. If they don’t get the point across, nothing will. As we all know, smoking leads to lung cancer. It’s not exclusively for those with poor genetics or smokers over the age of 65. It can apply to anyone who lights up regularly. One measly cigarette will taint your lungs for a full month. Imagine what a pack a day will do to them. We’re talking some serious damage here. So, if you’re still on the fence about smoking, I think it’s time for a few recent articles on lung cancer.

A surprising finding is that if your parents smoked in the house during your childhood and adolescence, your risk of lung cancer is double as an adult even if you yourself don’t smoke. Parents, think again lighting up your next cigarette! This year, lung cancer will kill about 163,500 Americans and remains the number one cause of cancer deaths taking more lives than colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.

More than one billion people worldwide are smokers even though nine out of ten lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking. By the year 2020 it’s estimated that as many as ten million people a year will die of smoking related diseases unless radical action is taken to curb the advance of the mega-bucks tobacco industry into Third World countries. About three quarters of those ten million deaths will be in developing nations.

I love to read. Not just novels and the Sunday paper. I mean I really like to read and learn about new things. It’s refreshing and I need to know what’s happening in the world today. If it’s not articles on lung cancer, its break-throughs regarding heart disease or prostate enlargement.

I learned a little bit about how diet affects lung cancer. An apple a day may keep lung cancer away. A Finnish study suggests that apples not only keep doctors away, but provide protection for the lungs as well. This study found that people who ate the most apples were 58 % less likely to develop lung cancer. Other studies suggest that lung cancer risk is lower among smokers and non smokers who ate at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruits daily.

It’s always prudent to add new data to the brain banks. This way you don’t wander through life like a naive, uninformed dolt. You prevent things before they occur, and you seek the newest medications upon the detection of a health affliction. With some health issues, it’s pretty cut and dry. One would think that common sense would overrule, but apparently it doesn’t. If it did, folks wouldn’t still be smoking like chimneys. Some individuals just need a scare before they can get on the smoke-free bandwagon. If current articles on lung cancer won’t do the trick, maybe respiratory problems will.

Make sure you get tested for lung cancer. In approximately 25% of people with lung cancer, there are no symptoms and the cancer is detected during screening or a routine physical examination. However, in three-quarters of lung cancer patients there are warning symptoms and signs that can alert the patient or their physician.

One of the most amusing things I’ve ever seen is a person smoking through the hole cut out of their throat. Now that’s bright! Obviously some people have a horrible time kicking the habit. However, there is irrefutable evidence linking smoking to serious health afflictions. Any articles on lung cancer, asthma and Bronchitis can inform you of this. We need to work toward a smoke-free environment, because all the rest of us are being assaulted by the second-hand stuff. That’s not right! Kick the habit before it kicks you off the primordial coil.

Thyroid Problem Prevention

January 23rd, 2010

Near 60 million Americans develop some form of thyroid disease. Many medical experts believe that this number will climb as time passes.

As the main gland of metabolism and energy, problems with your thyroid can have an impact on many things including weight, fertility, heart disease, and even mental illness. There are still many more things that can go wrong in our everyday lives if the thyroid gland becomes dysfunctional.

There are methods that can be used to reduce the risk of developing thyroid disease or a dysfunctional thyroid condition. Here are a few.

Ask for a Thyroid Collar When X-Rayed

Do you remember the last time you got dental x-rays, or X-rays of your head, neck or just below that area like a collarbone perhaps? Did the technician use a thyroid collar when you were x-rayed? Make sure you ask for one the next time you need to get an x-ray of the above areas. The collar is heavy lead lined and can be placed around your neck before x-rays are taken.

You always want to minimize exposure to radiation especially around your head area as much as possible. After all, if your thyroid is not the part being x-rayed, then you are allowing unnecessary exposure of your thyroid to radiation. The thyroid is quite sensitive to radiation. Excessive radiation will increase the risk of developing a thyroid condition.

So remember: Ask for a thyroid collar.

Quit Smoking

The toxins in cigarettes can cause great harm to your thyroid gland. Thiocyanate, a toxin found in cigarettes, is especially dangerous to the thyroid and can lead to thyroid disease.

Eye complications due to Graves disease, a condition associated with thyroid disease, is common among smokers as they are more likely to develop it. Treating this complication in smokers is not as effective when compared to non-smokers. Smoking already contains health risks with a host of other symptoms. Thyroid complication due to smoking compounds the health risks of smoking even further.

Ask your doctor for assistance if necessary. For many people, seeing the inside of a smoker’s body did the trick.

Testing and Treating Thyroid Antibodies

German researchers have discovered that treating a patient with levothyroxine in a patient that had Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis — but TSH level had not gone beyond the normal range — could decrease the onset and extent of autoimmune disease spread.

The researchers came to the conclusion that using a preventative treatment in patients with normal TSH levels who have Hashimoto’s disease reduces the various appearances of autoimmune thyroiditis and could possibly stop the spread of Hashimoto’s disease. It has also been suggested that such treatment may event help prevent the development of hypothyroidism.

A TSH test alone might not be a sufficient test for thyroid symptoms. Ask your doctor to conduct tests for antibodies also or find a doctor willing to provide this type of treatment.

Do not Overdo Soy Intake.

The over-consumption of soy products has been associated with increased risk of thyroid disease development. Many soy products are unnatural forms of soy that can affect your immune system negatively and lead to thyroid problems in certain people.

Natural forms of soy such as tofu and miso soup are better for your health if consumed in moderation. Avoid soy powders, pills or creams. These products contain unnatural parts and will only work against your thyroid function and overall health.

Potassium Iodide In Case of Nuclear Emergency

Potassium iodide can also be purchased over-the-counter. This supplement can be ingested within hours after a nuclear incident and may help protect the thyroid from risk of developing a thyroid condition or even thyroid cancer.

If you happen to reside within 50-100 miles of a nuclear power plant, it’s a good idea to have your own supply of potassium iodide for you and your family where it is easy to locate. You may also want to keep some in the drawer at work and even in your car. You should only take them in the case of an emergency and when the government notifies the public through the Emergency Broadcast System. If this occurs the broadcast will specify recommended level for intake.

The Fluoride in Toothpaste and Your Thyroid

Fluoride can be used as a drug to treat hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland). Fluoride causes a thyroid to become more underactive and does so effectively.

Many things we come in contact with regularly such as water, toothpaste and even dental rinses contain fluoride. We need to be careful about how much we allow into our system.

Some experts recommend fluoride free water and toothpaste.

Get Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance Diagnosed and Treated

Celiac disease is a condition causing the intestines to react abnormally to gluten. Gluten is a protein commonly found in wheat, rye, oats, barley, kamut, spelt and other grains. Celiac disease must be diagnosed properly and treated as soon as possible. By doing so, it is possible to prevent some cases of autoimmune hypothyroidism.

Celiac disease is also known as celiac sprue or gluten intolerance. In some individuals, medical researchers have discovered that the thyroid antibodies disappear following a three to six month gluten-free diet. This regimen prevents thyroid disease from developing.

Getting the Most from Your Doctor’s Visit

Knowing the risk factors associated with thyroid disease is a crucial part of the successful prevention in an adverse thyroid condition. It is important to educate yourself as much as possible and be informed about thyroid and autoimmune disease.

You can find a great deal of information on the web or even in print at a doctor’s office. This website can provide you with information about thyroid health as well.

Keeping up with the latest information will not only allow you to get the most out of your doctor’s visit but can ensure continued healthy thyroid function for your and your family.
